The Shocking Truth About Your Drinking Water: Is It Safe?
Here's a fact about the water you've been drinking throughout the week: it's likely not safe enough for you to drink.
Despite its appearance and your long history of consuming it, tap or bottled water can still be polluted with a range of harmful chemicals, including:
Toxins: Harmful substances that can cause a variety of health problems.
Heavy Metals: Metals like lead, mercury, and arsenic that can be toxic to humans.
VOCs: Volatile organic compounds that can cause a range of health issues.
Emerging Contaminants: Pesticides, herbicides, and prescription drugs that can contaminate water sources.
The Problem with Bottled Water
Did you know that 64% of bottled water is tap water?
Brands like Aquafina and Dasani use tap water, but the FDA does not require bottled water (e.g.: Arrowhead, Crystal Geyser) to meet the same safety regulations as tap water, which is regulated by the EPA.
The Risks of Fluoride Exposure
Studies have shown that fluoride exposure, used to clean tap water, can cause neurotoxicity and have adverse effects on children's neurodevelopment, leading to brain damage and lower IQ [1].
The Dangers of PFAS
Per- and poly-fluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), also known as "forever chemicals," have been detected in the blood of at least 99.7% of people in the United States.
These chemicals have been linked to a range of health problems, including:
Increased Cholesterol Levels: PFAS exposure has been linked to higher cholesterol levels.
Decreased Vaccine Response in Children: PFAS exposure has been linked to reduced vaccine effectiveness in children.
Changes in Liver Enzymes: PFAS exposure has been linked to changes in liver enzymes.
Increased Risk of High Blood Pressure or Pre-Eclampsia in Pregnant Women: PFAS exposure has been linked to higher blood pressure and pre-eclampsia in pregnant women.
Small Decreases in Infant Birth Weights: PFAS exposure has been linked to lower birth weights in infants.
Increased Risk of Kidney or Testicular Cancer: PFAS exposure has been linked to a higher risk of kidney and testicular cancer.
Check Your Water Quality
If you're concerned about the safety of your drinking water, you can check for PFAS contamination in your area (United States only) using resources from congress.gov and cdc.gov.

The Hidden Dangers of Plastic Water Bottles
Some companies still use BPA (Bisphenol A) to manufacture water bottles, which can have severe health consequences, including [2]:
Increased Estrogen Levels: Linked to cancer and other hormonal imbalances.
Obesity: BPA exposure has been linked to weight gain and obesity.
Thyroid Problems: BPA can disrupt thyroid function, leading to a range of health issues.
Neurological Disorders: BPA exposure has been linked to neurological problems, including anxiety and depression.
Hormone Imbalance: BPA can disrupt hormone balance, leading to a range of health issues.
The Problem with Non-BPA Plastic Bottles
Even if plastic bottles are not made from BPA, they are still manufactured from byproducts of crude oil, which can leach into your drinking water as microplastics [3].
This is a concern, as bottled water has been shown to contain twice as many microplastics as tap water.
The Limitations of Reverse Osmosis Water Filters
While reverse osmosis water filters can provide safe drinking water, they have several drawbacks:
Installation Time: Reverse osmosis filters can be time-consuming to install.
Filter Maintenance: Filters need to be changed every 6 months, which can be costly and inconvenient.
Expensive Maintenance: Reverse osmosis filters require regular maintenance, which can be pricey.
Lack of Portability: Reverse osmosis filters are not portable, making them impractical for on-the-go use.
A Comprehensive Solution: The Puritii Water Filter
When it comes to water filtration, many products on the market focus on one or two types of contaminants, but rarely all three.
This can leave you vulnerable to a range of potential health risks.
The Problem with Traditional Water Filters
Traditional water filters often target only one type of contaminant, such as biological, chemical, or emerging contaminants.
This means that they may not provide comprehensive protection against all types of pollutants.
The Puritii Difference
The Puritii Water Filter is different.
Our proprietary two-part filtration process is designed to filter out all three types of contaminants, providing you with a comprehensive solution for safe and clean drinking water.
How It Works
A two-step filtration process:
Pleat Pack
Made of activated coconut carbon with a proprietary pleating process that has a large surface area within the filter along with a magnet-like electrostatic charge that traps and greatly removes contaminants at higher flows.
Flows as if you were drinking water from a straw
Has antimicrobial properties so storing and maintaining the filter is easy for you
Cylinder
Contains a loose proprietary granular media blend of zeolite and fine ground coconut carbon in the center of the pleat pack
Casing
FDA-approved plastics for food contact.
Tritan Bottle
BPA, BPS free
24 oz / 740 mL volume
Dishwasher safe
Leak-proof (lid included)
Backed by stringent third-party testing to ensure results.
The Result
With the Puritii Water Filter, you can enjoy safe and clean drinking water, free from a wide range of contaminants, including:
Biological Contaminants: Bacteria, viruses, and parasites.
Chemical Contaminants: Heavy metals, pesticides, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
Emerging Contaminants: Pharmaceuticals, personal care products, and other emerging pollutants.

NOTES
Testing performed using standard NSF/ANSI test methodology.
The supplied filters were submerged into a reservoir of General Test Water Type 1 (GTW1, NSF P231). The test water was drawn up through the filter at 3.50 inHg. Each filter was conditioned by the passage of 10 liters of GTW1 prior to being subjected to the filtration challenge study. The indicated challenge species were added to GTW1 (pH 7.5) and homogenized. Each filter was submerged in the challenge water and passed through each filter at an approximate flow rate of 833-909 mL/min at 3.50 inHg. Following the passage of 1 liter of challenge water through the filter, duplicate samples of the effluent were collected in sterile containers.

Other Notes:
Perfluorooctane Sulfonamide (PFOSA) breaks down to form Perfluorooctane Sulfonate (PFOS), a PFAS chemical.
