Origins of Eau Coeur de l'Afrique Project in Canada

As a child, Annie saw images of poverty in Africa. These images gave her the determination to one day help African children live better lives.

While Annie contributed to the rural development in Quebec, Canada, she always had felt a calling to go beyond her work and make a difference for those in need.

After visiting Togo in West Africa for the first time in late 2019 and witnessing the lack of access to clean water first-hand, Annie formally established the non-profit organization "La Sourcière du Nord, d’Amour et d’Eau fraiche" to frame her humanitarian efforts.

She submitted a proposal to her partner company to distribute Puritii Water Filters in Togo, which was approved in May 2019.

Initial Success Distributing Puritii Water Filters in 2019

The first Eau Coeur de l'Afrique mission took place over 10 days in November 2019 in the town of Gapé Zévé.

During this initial trip, Annie and her local partner, the NGO Écho de la Jeunesse, successfully distributed 64 Puritii Water Filter Systems to schoolchildren in Gapé Zévé.

These water filters provided the children with clean drinking water at school.

This first distribution had an enormous impact - not only did it provide the 64 schoolchildren with access to clean water, but because the children brought the water filters home to share with their families, it ultimately benefited over 380 people in the community.

Beyond distributing the water filters, Annie discussed the town's critical needs with local leaders.

Access to education was a priority concern, with the village council requesting support to construct a new school for the growing population.

Annie returned to Canada determined to expand the reach of her humanitarian project.

In the summer of 2021, Annie and a small team aimed to:

Deliver 216 Puritii Water Bottles and 97 Puritii Water Filters to Gapé Zévé. This provides access to clean drinking water for over 800 people.
Renovate and restore the community's medical clinic, which was originally built in 1989 with Canadian support. The renovation improves sanitation facilities and restores dignity and quality of care.
Work collaboratively with teenage students, having them assist with the renovation to learn valuable construction skills.
Provide clothing, medical supplies, and equipment to the clinic.
Discuss future infrastructure projects with town leaders, such as constructing a new school.
